Musicians make some of the most complex and demanding physical movements of any profession.

The Alexander Technique has had a long history of helping instrumentalists and singers to perform with less stress and likelihood of injury. By helping to improve the quality of physical movements, the performer can enhance co-ordination, spontaneity and performance skills to improve the quality of music itself.

The Technique is useful for singers and instrumentalists of all level, including children, adult beginners, amateurs and professionals in all types of music, such as jazz, pop, folk, classical and world.

A number of well known musicians have publicly endorsed the Alexander Technique including Yehudi Menuhin, Paul McCartney, Sting and Julian Bream.

John Beddoe has a particular interest in the application of the Alexander Technique to musicians. Having overcome overuse injuries related to guitar playing himself, John is committed to helping other musicians achieve freedom and success in their performance and playing skills.

John Beddoe is an experienced musician and a qualified teacher of the Alexander Technique certified by the Australian Society for Alexander Teaching (AUSTAT).
He is available for private lessons and workshops in Melbourne.
